Signing in and security

Signing in

There's no password. On the sign-in page ↗, enter the email you subscribed with and we'll email you a link. It works once and expires after 15 minutes. If it doesn't arrive, check your spam folder.

For privacy, the page says the same thing whether or not the email has a subscription.

Two-step sign-in

You can add a second step under Security in your account:

  • A passkey: Windows Hello, Touch ID, a security key, or a passkey saved in your password manager. This is the one we recommend.
  • An authenticator app that shows a 6-digit code.

When you set one up, you get recovery codes. Each works once and gets you in if you lose your passkey or phone. They're only shown once, so save them somewhere safe. You can make a new set from Security, which cancels the old ones.

Trusted browsers

Tick Remember this device when you sign in to skip the second step on that browser for 30 days. Security lists your trusted browsers, and you can revoke any of them, or all but the one you're using.
