Troubleshooting and FAQ
Common problems and how to fix them. If yours isn't here, ask on the Discord.
Each release also lists its own known issues in the release notes.
Connecting
The PC card's chip doesn't turn green. Hover over it to see which check is failing. Check the game's web server is enabled (Options → Controller → Multiplayer) and that a session is loaded in the game. For a game on another PC, check its IP address and that ports 6397 and 6398 are allowed through its firewall.
The chip says Connected, no bridge on a two-PC setup. The SM Bridge must be running on the game PC, with the same port, and the same token if you set one, entered in the PC2 card. If the app log shows Bridge ... returned HTTP 400, set "allowRemote": true in the bridge's settings and restart it. See two PCs and the SM Bridge.
The overlay and Stream Deck
The overlay is blank in OBS. Open Broadcast Overlay from the Home screen and leave Overlay Controls open: the overlay only runs while it's open. Check the browser source URL matches the one in Overlay Controls, at 1920×1080. If it went blank after you updated the app, refresh the browser source once.
Stream Deck keys do nothing. Same cause: the plugin talks to the overlay's server, so Overlay Controls must be open. If the actions are missing from Stream Deck, check the plugin folder is in %APPDATA%\Elgato\StreamDeck\Plugins\ and restart Stream Deck.
The replay stinger doesn't play. Use an MP4 or WebM file. MOV files don't play in browser sources.
The logo and theme options are greyed out. They're part of the Premium plan. See plans.
Timing and incidents
A penalty shows its type but no reason. Reasons come from the game's incident stream, which is filled in hosted and online sessions. In single-player the game may not write them.
The track limits column is blank. It stays blank until the app has the session's limit and the game has made its first track-limits ruling for anyone. That's deliberate: a blank means no data yet, not no cuts.
A car shows 0 track-limits points after cutting. If you connected mid-race, points from before you connected aren't counted, so read the column from that point on. A car also drops to 0 when the game gives it a penalty, because the count is towards the next one.
Per-corner tyres don't show. They need shared memory, so the SM Bridge or a connection on the game PC, and they appear once the car is on track.
Viewers see the pit lane when a replay starts. Turn on Pre-Arm in the Broadcast Control window. It switches off when the app restarts and when you move between sessions, so turn it on again each time.
Installing and licences
Windows says "Windows protected your PC". That's SmartScreen, because the installer isn't yet recognised. Click More info, then Run anyway.
My licence key won't activate. See activating a licence key. If you've reached the device limit, remove a PC from your account.
Quick answers
Do I need the SM Bridge? Only with two PCs, and only for the extras it adds. Timing, incidents and the overlay work without it.
Does the free app need an account? No. The free app never needs a licence or an account.
Do the FCY and Safety Car buttons control the game? No. They set what the overlay shows. Cameras and replays, on the other hand, do drive the game.
